Covington - Driving Directions

The airport is located 13 miles south of downtown Cincinnati in Northern Kentucky.

From Cincinnati:

Drive south on I-71 or I-75 across the Ohio River. Take Exit 185 and follow the I-275 circle freeway west to Exit 4 (State Route 212). Follow the signs to airport terminals and parking facilities.

From the West:

Follow I-74 to the I-275 circle freeway. Follow I-275 south then east to Exit 4 (State Route 212.) Follow the signs to airport terminals and parking.

From the South:

Take I-71 or I-75 north and go west on I-275 to Exit 4 (State Route 212). Follow the signs to the airport terminals and parking.

Covington - Public Transport

Airport Executive Shuttle:

Airport Executive Shuttle can take you into the city and give you a quick taste of the beauty and excitement of the Tri-State area, including downtown Cincinnati and the Kentucky side of the river. On-call service is provided to hotels and other locations throughout Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky. Airport Executive Shuttle can also arrange to drop off and pick up at various sights and attractions along their route.

Shuttles to Downtown Cincinnati and Covington cost $15 one-way and $25 round-trip. Rates to other locations vary. Call 24 hours in advance to guarantee a reservation. Taxi Cab Service:

Visit the taxi desk in the baggage claim area of Terminal 3 or use the courtesy phone near the exits of Terminals 1 and 2 (dial 3260) to make arrangements. Service is available 24 hours a day. The fare from the airport to downtown Cincinnati is $24. Call (859) 767-3260 for more information.

BUS:

Public Bus service is available between the airport and downtown Cincinnati and Covington seven days a week from 5 a.m. to midnight. Riders can board a TANK bus at the Terminal 1 crosswalk and outside the Terminal 3 baggage claim.

SMOKING SECTIONS: Several restaurants throughout the airport have smoking sections. Look for bars and restaurants marked with an asterisk on our SkyShops search pages. In addition, you will find comfortable smoking lounges in the ticketing areas of Terminals 1, 2 and 3, as well as in Concourse A near Gate A-2, Concourse B behind the food court and in Concourse C near Brookstone and Toto.

CHILDERN FACILITIES:

There is a children?s play area in Concourse A. Creative Kidstuff in Concourse B is a store that caters specifically to kids. Most restaurants feature children?s items on their menus. In addition, there is a family restroom in Terminal 1 ticketing and in Concourse B near gate B-15.

The SkyShops at CVG offer a broad mix of retail and dining options, whether you are looking for a sit-down meal, food on the go or specialty merchandise. Among the 80 exciting offerings are such names as Damon's Grill, Moe's, Borders and Brooks Brothers.

CVG Again Rated a Top U.S. Airport

October 18, 2006? CVG has been selected as one of the top airports in the country by CityBloc.com, an independent online directory of city and transportation data.

Cincinnati?s airport was recognized for its reputation as a business-friendly airport and its efforts to offer passengers amenities that set it apart from other connecting hubs.

CityBloc also noted the airport?s simultaneous landing/takeoff capabilities, which make CVG a particularly efficient airport for flight operations.

A recent DOT study reinforces these observations: Year-to-date, CVG is ranked as the #1 airport for on-time arrivals and departures.

Since 1994 CVG has consistently been named one of the best airports in the world in surveys by JD Power, ACNielsen, OAG Worldwide and Regional Airline World magazine. In June, travelers worldwide rated CVG the #3 U.S. hub in a report published by London-based SkyTrax Research.

NEW RUNWAY:

CVG's third North-South Runway opened in December 2005, following more than 14 years of planning, public outreach and construction.

Several airfield improvements were completed as part of the new runway. These projects will keep CVG among the nation's most efficient airports and create a strong foundation for future growth.

Runway

Our third north-south runway (orange) now allows triple simultaneous takeoffs and landings. This offers CVG an operating efficiency found at only a handful of airports.

Extension

The 2,000-foot extension of the east-west runway (dark orange) was completed in 2004. It improves the airport's cargo capacity and opens the possibility of nonstop passenger flights to Asia and Eastern Europe. (Planes that fly longer distances are generally large and need longer runways for optimal operation.)

Taxiways

The airfield projects required seven miles of new aircraft taxiways (light orange) and service roads. In total the airport moved ten million cubic yards of dirt.

Roadwork

A two-mile stretch of Route 20 (blue) was relocated to make way for the new 8,000-foot runway. This includes construction of two bridges and a 550-foot tunnel. All of this also entails moving two miles of water, sewer, gas, phone and cable lines. Additionally, the airport has relocated smaller sections of Conner and Limaburg roads.

Pipeline

Portions of two fuel pipelines (purple) were routed away from the runway construction zone. The 20- and 26-inch lines carry raw fuel from Texas to Michigan.
