FLIGHTS FROM BOLOGNA TO NEW YORK TO RETURN IN MAY 2007

Eurofly and Bologna 'Guglielmo Marconi' Airport announce that direct flights from Bologna to New York will resume on May 6, 2007. There will be two flights per week for a period lasting 6 months (finishing on November 11).

This important confirmation is the result of the joint efforts of the airline, Sab (airport holding company), APT Servizi (private company set up to promote tourism in Emilia-Romagna), the territorial authorities and the most important organisations working in Emilia-Romagna’s tourism sector, including Promuovi Italia (Promote Italy) and Coordinamento degli Assessori al Turismo e delle Regioni e Province Autonome (the coordinated body of tourism for the regions and autonomous local governments), who have signed a partnership agreement in the last few days with the objective of systematizing cooperation in order to improve marketing of the route to both incoming and outgoing passengers, given the importance of the connection for the region and considering its potential for bringing further economic growth.

At the end of the second year of operation, the route between the capital of Emilia and the Big Apple has, in fact, shown results which, despite not being at the same levels as those for other Eurofly flights to New York, show elements of improvement. Particularly worthy of attention is the statistic for incoming passengers, equal to 44% of passengers compared to last year’s 37%, which demonstrates the growing enthusiasm for the flight in the United States.

The exact names of the companies and associations who signed the agreement with Eurofly for the Bologna - New York relaunch and support programme were: Bologna Airport, Emilia-Romagna Regional Authority, Unione di prodotto Citta d'Arte (Association of Producers from Cities of Cultural Heritage), APT Servizi, Bologna City and Regional Councils, Bologna Chamber of Commerce, Confcommercio (General Federation of Italian Commerce and Tourism ), Confesercenti, (General Federation of Small and Medium-Sized Businesses) and Associazioni Albergatori della provincia di Bologna e Assohotel Bologna, (Bologna Regional Hoteliers Association) with the contribution of Promuovi Italia and Coordinamento degli Assessori al Turismo e delle Regioni e Province Autonome.

"We welcomed the proposal of collaborating with the region’s institutions and territorial authorities and with Promuovi Italia because we believe that it is the most effective way of promoting an initiative which is important not just for Eurofly’s commercial potential but also for the development of the region’s tourism and economy", affirms Armando Brunini, Vice Chairman of Eurofly.

"We are satisfied with the agreement we have reached with local authorities, the Regional Authority and associations in the sector", adds Umberto Chinni, Managing Director of Bologna Airport. We are sure that, next year, this teamwork will benefit both the popularity of flights and the promotion of our region as a whole".

"Bologna and the other culturally important cities in Emilia Romagna, our tourist infrastructure and the region’s fine food and wine make up an ever more desirable proposition to American tour operators", says Andrea Babbi, APT Servizi’s managing director. Eurofly therefore permits us to strengthen our relations with the United States market, allowing the individuality and unique nature of what are offering to be displayed in a new quality environment. The confirmation of resumed Eurofly flights from Bologna to New York is a highly positive announcement, which will serve as justification for the amount our public and, especially private, partners have invested up to now".

"As part of our marketing campaign, which we are running with both Coordinamento degli Assessori al Turismo e delle Regioni e Province Autonome and the regional authorities involved, we are particularly happy to contribute, through effective co-marketing action, to the operational success of the flight from Bologna to New York", explains Mario Ceccarelli, Managing Director for incoming tourists from Central and North Europe and North America at Promuovi Italia.

Direct flights between Bologna and New York are already available through the main booking channels and by visiting www.eurofly.it.
